Fundamentals and Forming Processing Technologies of Titanium/Titanium Alloys Seen in Industrial Application Examples

New members who register for the first time by September 16 will be charged 39,900 yen.

**Lecture Summary** In our country, the utilization of industrial pure titanium has primarily developed based on its corrosion resistance, but domestic demand is only about 10,000 tons per year (compared to approximately 100,000 tons globally). On the other hand, in the United States, development has focused on high-strength, heat-resistant alloys for aircraft structures and engines, including military aircraft. In the future, growth is also expected in our country in fields that leverage the high specific strength of titanium alloys. The challenges for the titanium material industry are cost reduction and the development of new demand areas. To achieve this, it is essential to have a good understanding of the fundamental physical properties (advantages and disadvantages) of industrial pure titanium and high-strength titanium alloys, as well as knowledge of user fields. Titanium does not rust, making it usable for semi-permanent periods, and when considering its long lifespan with no maintenance required, it becomes cost-effective. At the same time, it contributes to energy savings and is an environmentally friendly metal. This presentation will discuss the challenges facing the titanium industry, particularly in sectors such as automotive, medical, and construction/civil engineering.

A3003 Aluminum Extrusion Alloy

It is an alloy with slightly higher strength than A1070, and it has good extrudability and corrosion resistance.

A3003 is one of the representative alloys in the 3000 series, made by adding manganese to pure aluminum. It retains the characteristics of pure aluminum, such as good corrosion resistance and workability, while improving strength. As a non-heat-treatable alloy, it does not undergo aging treatment. Additionally, it is rarely used as a cutting material. Its main applications include electrical machinery parts and heat exchangers. Aluminum cans are also made using alloys from the 3000 series.

High wear resistance and corrosion resistance ultra-hard coating [Longer lifespan and reduced LCC]

We introduce a carbide coating technology that possesses a dense film characteristic with strong adhesion to the substrate, resulting in extremely high wear resistance and corrosion resistance.

HVOF spraying (High Velocity Oxygen Fuel spraying) is a super hard thermal spray coating suitable for wear and corrosion resistance. Due to the smooth surface of the coating, it is easy to achieve a super mirror finish, and thick film formation is also realized. The extremely high particle velocity (500-800 m/s) produces a coating with very high density and low porosity. Additionally, because the material is fed at high speed, the time it is exposed to the flame is minimized, allowing for the reduction of oxidation and alteration to a minimum. 【Features】 ■ High density ■ High adhesion ■ Oxidation and alteration suppression ■ Surface smoothness *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

Q&A about Copper: Corrosion Resistance and Durability

Introducing a Q&A on corrosion resistance against copper corrosion substances, potential corrosion, and ant nest-like corrosion!

The Japan Copper Center's website features a Q&A section regarding "corrosion resistance and durability" of copper. It introduces topics such as "the corrosion resistance of brass (C3604B) to CO, CO2, NOx, and C3H8," and "the extent of galvanic corrosion that occurs when dissimilar metals are in close proximity." Additionally, it provides answers on topics like "the potential for corrosion due to the potential difference between copper and stainless steel" and "measures to prevent pitting corrosion in heat exchangers." [Excerpt of Q&A] ■ Is there a list of corrosion resistance substances for copper? ■ Does galvanic corrosion occur if the same copper alloy is made using different methods? ■ Is copper piping unsuitable for water that generally contains high levels of sulfate ions and chloride ions? ■ Is there a possibility of corrosion due to the potential difference between copper and stainless steel? ■ What is the expected lifespan of copper pipes used in water supply lines? *For more details, please feel free to contact us.
