Just organize the drawings. Utilize architectural BIM that allows free navigation between drawings and models.

Introducing a case study of the implementation of architectural BIM "Archicad" at Takato Tamagami Design Co., Ltd. A collection of case studies featuring numerous BIM implementation examples is currently being distributed.

At Takato Tamagami Design, we utilize "Archicad" as a tool to freely traverse between drawings and models, allowing us to depict complex and dynamic spaces. The company has long felt limited by the method of drawing complex forms by manually creating lines for floor plans, elevations, and sections one by one. With the introduction of this software, the process of creating drawings has become significantly easier. By creating a 3D model from the start, the drawings are automatically generated in the background, making it feel like the task is completed without much effort. [Case Overview] ■ Before Implementation - We often displayed multiple 3D perspectives on-site and wrote explanations, which made it difficult to capture the three-dimensional aspect. ■ After Implementation - Being able to view from various angles and cut sections has deepened understanding. - People on-site have commented that "it's convenient to view on an iPad." *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Stadium Renovation Project

Transmitting vertical loads to two linked pendulums! Introducing a case where circulation within the stadium has improved!

We would like to introduce a case study on the introduction of BIM software for the Santiago Bernabéu Stadium renovation project. The new fixed roof, which uses over 9,000 tons of steel, consists of two trusses spanning 177 meters in length and four cross trusses measuring 144 meters in length. This roof is retractable and splits into two panels that slide over the inner cross trusses. The panels are made up of five air-inflatable cushions measuring 72×7 meters, positioned between six steel hybrid trusses with a span of 72.5 meters. Additionally, during the assembly process, the main truss, which served as a guide for the other trusses, transmits vertical loads to two new evacuation towers on the west side and two linked pendulums integrated into the building on the east side, while completely isolating horizontal loads from the existing structure. The redevelopment of the stadium also includes the installation of a video scoreboard. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] AFAS Stadium

An example of minimizing miscommunication and work-related errors!

In August 2019, part of the roof of the Morenaar Stand at AFAS Stadium collapsed due to strong winds. Fortunately, there were no matches taking place, and no injuries were reported, but the damage was significant. There was a design flaw in the structural joints, with insufficient thickness in the welds, and damage from strong winds experienced in the past contributed to the collapse. At the end of 2019, ASK Romein was selected for the design and structural engineering, and they began collaborating with BAM Bouw en Techniek. BIM was maximally utilized throughout the engineering process, enabling clear communication among project stakeholders and seamless interaction between different software. Since there are many points of contact between the existing structure and the new structure, point cloud data measured with a 3D scanner is being used in the engineering and assembly processes. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Boat Landing

Boat landing of AME-2 and AWG-1! Effective design collaboration has been achieved!

Pinnacle has been appointed as the structural engineering consultant to support the development and structural engineering of safe and reliable boat landings (docks) off the coast of the Netherlands. The main engineering challenge was to install the boat landing on the existing jacket between the sea surface and the platform's "spider deck." The company evaluated the design, as well as wind, wave, tide, and impact conditions, and then analyzed the structure of the boat landing to carry out detailed design using "Tekla Structures." By involving the steel fabricator, vessel operators, and installation and rope access contractors from the structural design and detailed design stages, reliable work was carried out in the manner recommended by the main clamp and frame installation contractors. The cost efficiency was very high, and despite the challenging conditions, there were no accidents, and no modifications were needed on-site. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] Pepper Tree Quarry

Conducted 3D laser scanning and integrated it as a point cloud on the reconstructed Tekla model!

In 2013, Sandvik received a project from their client Boral for a quarry located in Pepper Tree. The factory, located in Sydney, Australia, is equipped with six crushers, nine screening machines (vibrating screens), a conveyor belt approximately 3.4 km long, and a fully automated loading system. This project was one of the more complex ones undertaken by the company. The main challenge was integrating the complex new equipment into the existing factory, which had not been designed for it, and not all existing blueprints were available. By importing from other applications, utilizing past Tekla models, and performing rough modeling of the remaining parts, a complete three-dimensional model of the factory was reconstructed in "Tekla Structure" using the existing model and drawing information. Scanning the existing factory with Trimble's 3D laser scanner made it possible to compare the model with the actual factory, serving as the foundation for the design of the new equipment. *For more details, please feel free to contact us. ⇩ The catalog can be downloaded from the special website below ⇩

[BIM Software Implementation Case] Concentrated Solar Power Plant

The main steel structure consists of 16 columns! It is supported by three main platforms!

SteelPro 4 s.r.o. undertook the basic design, general layout creation, and modeling of all connections for a steel structure 3D model of a solar receiver (MSR) with a total weight of approximately 900 tons and a height of 36 meters. The main steel structure will be completed, including secondary structures such as platforms, various walkways, and supports for equipment. Appropriate solutions were required to resolve technical space requirements and interference with the structure. A significant reason for the success of this project was the sharing of the 3D model among members of different professions, which not only allowed for progress tracking but also enabled close collaboration among stakeholders. Additionally, the structure was divided into production units in line with the delivery schedule, and the 3D model was provided to steel trading companies and steel fabricators. This made it possible to create drawings both at the manufacturing plant and on-site. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Stadium (Sochi, Russia)

We would like to introduce a case where a massive curved roof structure was realized using Tekla!

Inspired by the Easter egg of a Russian jeweler, the stadium designed features integrated walls and a roof that shine in the sunlight, attracting attention as a beautiful stage. The stadium is a steel structure with a gently curved, massive shape, requiring advanced technology for calculations of beam nodes and dimensions of joints with the basic structure. Additionally, during the modeling process, Mostproekt discovered that the size of the joint components posed transportation issues and conducted simulations on the Tekla model to create alternatives. As a result, by manufacturing products that consider shipping conditions, potential troubles were prevented. "Tekla Structures" played a significant role in solving such issues. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] Brominmaki Wastewater Treatment Facility

Structural design is carried out entirely based on BIM! We will introduce a case that achieved the management of a vast amount of data.

The new wastewater treatment facility being constructed in Blominmäki, Espoo, Finland, has a high processing capacity and can remove 99% of phosphorus from water. This facility, which has buildings and storage tanks installed on a site of over 10 hectares, utilizes Nordic construction methods for underground excavation. The project is diverse and presents many challenges, while also featuring a very interesting design. The biggest challenge has been managing the vast amount of data handled in the project. The design employs numerous modeling software, including "Tekla Structures" and "Trimble Connect." Additionally, all structural design is carried out based on BIM and is modeled in greater detail than the level of detail (LOD) specified by Finland's COBIM. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Tripla Project

Expanding the scope of BIM application and demonstrating its effectiveness in various processes! Case studies from large-scale construction sites.

The development project of Tripla, located in the center of Pasila, Helsinki, the capital of Finland, utilizes BIM tools for various design tasks. The project's procurement team efficiently calculates quantities of construction materials by leveraging the BIM model. "Tekla Structures" allows for the aggregation and classification of cost estimation information under various conditions, enabling the visualization of costs at detailed levels, such as by work process or contractor, which aids in accurately understanding estimated prices. Additionally, the Tekla model has achieved significant results in examining the feasibility of construction, such as investigating the delivery routes for escalators to be installed within the building. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] Karasuma Racecourse Redevelopment Project

Tekla is effective for designing buildings with large curves! Examples from redevelopment projects such as spectator stands.

The redevelopment of the Karasuyama Racecourse is a project to construct world-class facilities. The company responsible for the project is handling everything from design to detailed design, manufacturing, and the construction of the main viewing stand roof using a 45-meter cantilever beam. The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances, but by utilizing "BIM" and "Tekla Structures," they conducted precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The very complex roof shape had significant restrictions on deflection and allowable tolerances. ■ Results - Achieved precise detailed design that considered the use of fabrication drawings. - Tekla is very effective for designing buildings with large curves, like the Karasuyama Racecourse. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case] UAE Pavilion at the Dubai International Expo

Completing the project through collaboration! Introducing case studies of implementation in commercial facility construction.

The National Media Council of the United Arab Emirates adopted the design proposal by architect Santiago Calatrava for the UAE Pavilion at the 2020 Dubai International Expo. In July 2017, Arabtec Construction, a 100% subsidiary of Arabtec Holding, which is responsible for infrastructure development, won the construction contract for the pavilion. Despite facing various challenges, including a very tight deadline and the fact that all major rib materials were cambered, we received positive feedback stating, "Thanks to Tekla Structures and Tekla BIMsight, we were able to complete the project while collaborating effectively." [Challenges] ■ Very tight deadline ■ Composed mostly of beams joined with special specifications ■ All major rib materials are cambered *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us. [BIM Software Implementation Case Study] 2020 Dubai International Expo

Easily coordinate with other stakeholders! Here is an example of how we solved challenges with "Tekla Structures."

We would like to introduce a case study of BIM software implementation at the "2020 Dubai International Expo Mobility Pavilion." In this project, Tiger Steel was responsible for everything from the detailed design and fabrication of the steel structure, including the examination of joints, to construction. The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very challenging, but this was resolved by using "Tekla Structures." The biggest advantage of using this software is that it makes coordination with other stakeholders easier. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge: The three-dimensional structure and complex joints were very difficult. ■ Result: This was resolved by using Tekla Structures. ■ Benefit: Coordination with other stakeholders became easier. *For more details, please refer to the PDF materials or feel free to contact us.
