Vacuum forming

Vacuum forming is an optimal molding method for small-batch, diverse production and large-scale plastic molding.

Vacuum forming and pressure forming methods have a higher unit cost compared to injection molding, which is representative of plastic molding. However, the molds for vacuum forming only require one type of either concave or convex, unlike injection molding or sheet metal pressing, and often can be made from inexpensive resin molds instead of metal molds. This results in lower costs and shorter production times. The cost of the forming molds is about 1/6 to 1/10 that of injection molding molds, making it very effective for small lot production, short delivery times, and especially for large products.

Hot press molding involves heating resin sheets to soften them, using male and female molds, applying pressure with a press machine, and cooling them to solidify in the same shape, maintaining the shape at room temperature. Additionally, in most cases, molding can be done with inexpensive wooden molds.
