We would like to introduce an improvement case where the steering angle of a vehicle was measured non-contactly. At an automotive safety inspection company, the steering angle of vehicles was measured using optical sensors. However, due to issues such as light scattering and dust accumulation, reading errors occurred with the sensors. By setting up the magnetic detection head "SIE-140" and the magnetic scale "SIS-140," the errors were reduced. [Challenges] ■ We want a sensor that is not affected by disturbances. ■ We are looking for a sensor that has established "repeatability" every time. ■ We want to keep the implementation costs as low as possible. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where the variation in work cutting machines was resolved. The accuracy of the aluminum work cutting machine was unstable, leading to unnecessary work due to inspections conducted every time for accuracy verification. By equipping our linear encoder system "SI-140PAC" on the aluminum cutting machine, we reduced unnecessary inspection time. [Challenges] - We need a scale that is not affected by aluminum dust. - We want to keep the introduction cost down, so an accuracy of about 0.1mm is acceptable. - We need a scale and a counter (display unit). *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where the full inspection of iron balls through mass production was improved. We manufacture approximately 40,000 iron balls with a diameter of 10mm every day, and among them, defective products (magnetized iron balls) were mixed in, leading to situations where they could slip through with only sampling inspections. By installing the guide sensor "GS-116" on the line conveyor, we were able to detect the magnetic field of the iron balls and discharge them. 【Case Overview】 ■ Issues - Monitoring of magnetized iron balls on the automated line - Due to the line structure, we wanted to maintain a detection distance of 30mm between the detected object and the sensor ■ Effects and Benefits of Improvement - Established a line that stops immediately if an anomaly is detected - Achieved a line system that can automatically discharge defective products when they occur *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where the stirring operation confirmation of the chemical mixing machine has been improved. We were using a stirrer for chemical mixing, and there was a challenge where insufficient stirring due to some malfunction could lead to product defects. By installing our magnetic proximity switch "DW-100" on the stirrer, the changeover process has also become smoother. 【Challenges】 ■ We want to monitor whether the stirrer is definitely operating. ■ We want to manage the stirrer's rotation speed and reduce changeover time. ■ The influence of chemical substances and dust makes it impossible to use photoelectric tubes. ■ We do not want the aging of motors, etc., to affect stirring. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where we improved the chain breakage of a conveyor system. At a wood processing manufacturer, troubles with the conveyor frequently occurred. The workpieces were very heavy, leading to breakage of the top chain and resulting in loss due to downtime. There was a request to monitor the lifespan of the chain. We installed a magnetic proximity switch "DW-350" under the conveyor and attached a magnetic body "SMG-100N." This allowed for management of the top chain count, enabling a shift from reactive maintenance to preventive maintenance. [Challenges] - The conveyor's top chain reaches material lifespan at 1,650 rotations, so we want to replace it before that. - We want to shift from "reactive maintenance" to "preventive maintenance." - Since it involves wood processing work, photoelectric sensors cannot be used due to dust interference. - We need a sensor that can reliably count to ensure wear is accurately tracked up to 1,650 rotations. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where we improved troubles caused by chocolate stops on the production line. At one point in the production line, troubles (chocolate stops) occurred frequently. During these troubles, the line could not be stopped, allowing work from the previous process to enter and become defective. To address this, we installed our positioning sensor "PS-4482" and the magnetic body "MG-102A" on the line conveyor, enabling AB control. [Challenges] - Troubles were not detected, allowing work to be introduced. - It was unsafe because work continued to flow even while workers were engaged in recovery operations. - The working environment was poor, and the photoelectric tube could not detect anything. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case that resolved losses during line changeovers. We adopted the "Kanban production system" and are producing 15 different types of products on one line. However, during changeovers, losses occurred due to height and width adjustments of the machinery when changing the type of workpiece. Therefore, we held discussions with the maintenance design team and automated the changeover process. We have equipped it with a linear encoder "SIE-140," among other components. [Challenges] - During changeovers, losses occurred due to "height adjustments" and "width adjustments" when changing the type of workpiece. - There were many thickness adjustment changeovers using jacks, resulting in long line downtime. - A large number of personnel were required for changeover tasks. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

We would like to introduce a case where we improved the issues with the work conveyor. A contact-type limit switch was used for stopping the work conveyor, and there were trouble factors such as the fixed part of the rotating lever loosening and not detecting it, and the target metal object being worn down and not detected. Our magnetic proximity switch "SW-270A" is a non-contact type, so there is no occurrence of troubles due to loosening of the fixed part. [Challenges] ■ The fixed part of the rotating lever loosens and does not get detected. ■ The target metal object of the fixed lever wears down and does not get detected. ■ Due to the large impact in certain areas, the lever malfunctions and the conveyor does not stop. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

This is a 6-bit output type spot marker reader that identifies the position of unmanned transport vehicles. It detects address magnets with arbitrary information (0-63) written on them and performs vehicle control (branching, stopping, accelerating, decelerating, etc.) based on the current location information. Since it uses binary code parallel output, signal processing is also easy. Because it uses absolute addressing, there is no skipping like in counting-up methods. *If you are currently using this with your AGV, please consult with each manufacturer. 【Main Features】 - Designed for unmanned transport vehicles (AGVs), it adopts a mobile reading type. - The spot marker reader and address magnet plate are non-contact types. It is equipped with a clock signal to read when the spot marker reader is positioned directly above the address magnet plate while in motion. - Compared to the higher model 'SMR-2352H2', the main body size has been reduced by about 60% in width, making it suitable for cases where the amount of information required is not as high as RFID. *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

What a third installment! In the product catalog of magnetic sensors manufactured by Makome Research Institute, there is an item labeled "Response Frequency (Frequency Characteristics)." There are similar items in the product catalogs for "Linear Displacement Sensors" and "Rotary Angle Detection Sensors," and I believe many people find this unclear. Generally, it would be "response speed for linear displacement" and "response rotation speed for rotary angles," but at Makome Research Institute, the term "frequency" is used. This time, I would like to consider how the frequency, commonly used in the electrical world, translates to "displacement." *For more details, please download the catalog or feel free to contact us.*

■ It uses an optical sensor, but it requires regular cleaning, which is a hassle. ■ The optical sensor cannot be used in environments where dust and mist are constantly present. ■ It uses a mechanical switch, but due to the high number of operations, it needs to be replaced frequently. ■ I want to avoid mechanical switches for waterproofing reasons. ■ I want to detect from a bit further away; detection over 100mm is possible. ■ I want to detect through obstacles (as long as they are non-magnetic materials, there is no problem). ■ Detection is not possible due to freezing or condensation. Are you facing any of these issues? There are environments suitable for magnetic sensors. Additionally, magnets have N-pole and S-pole polarities. While general proximity switches can only output ON/OFF signals, magnetic sensors can individually output signals for N-pole and S-pole. With some creativity, hardware and programming are also possible. For example, you can use it for deceleration (N-pole), stop (S-pole), stop (N-pole), emergency stop (S-pole), and you can also use address codes as a ternary code. Completely non-contact. Would you like to switch to a maintenance-free, long-lasting Makome sensor? Length measurement, rotational measurement, direction of movement detection.

The detection body consists of two components: the "sleeve" and the "probe" of the detection part. A high-frequency magnetic field is generated on the probe side, creating electromagnetic induction coupling between the sleeve and the probe. When the sleeve displaces relative to the probe, changes occur in the electromagnetic induction coupling, which are converted into voltage and output (the relative position of the sleeve and probe is output as a displacement amount in a voltage range of 1-5V). Since the sleeve and probe have a completely non-contact structure, there is no deformation or failure due to friction. 【Main Features】 ■ Two models available: the integrated detector 'ET-850' and the separated type 'ET-851A' ■ The probe is made of stainless steel, ensuring both robustness and durability ■ The protective structure complies with IP-67, providing high dust and water resistance ■ Power supply voltage DC10-30V ■ No need for origin return after a power outage *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.

Since the sleeve and probe have a completely non-contact structure, there is no deformation or failure due to friction. 【Main Features】 - Two models available: the integrated detector 'ET-850' and the separated type 'ET-851A.' - The probe is made of stainless steel, ensuring both robustness and durability. - The protective structure complies with IP-67, providing high dust and water resistance. - Power supply voltage: DC 10-30V. Custom options available for mounting and shape. An image of a differential transformer (LVDT) reversed. *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us.*

We have adopted the "Kanban production system" and produce 15 varieties of products on one line, but on busy days, up to 8 "changeovers" are required. After recording the changeovers on video and analyzing the situation, it was found that the "overall equipment efficiency" and "net operating rate" were declining. Therefore, we held discussions with the maintenance design team and automated the changeover process. We installed Makome Research Institute's linear encoders "SIE-140 (incremental)" and "SAE-200 (absolute)" on the motor-driven thickness adjustment machine. As a result of the improvements, the operating time rate increased, and changeover losses were transformed into production that generates revenue. The initial investment was 4,852,600 yen, but the cost-effectiveness improved the monetary loss in about 13 operating days. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

At one point on the production line, frequent troubles (chocolate stops) were occurring, and during these troubles, the line could not be stopped, causing the work from the previous process to enter the trouble area and become defective. We wanted to introduce AB control, so we summarized the current issues, which revealed three main factors: "troubles are not detected, and work is being input," "work continues to flow even while workers are engaged in recovery operations, making it unsafe," and "the working environment is poor, and the photoelectric sensor is not detecting." Therefore, we installed the positioning sensor "PS-4482" from MACOME CORPORATION on the line conveyor and the magnetic body "MG-102A" on the work pallet. As a result of the improvements, we achieved a work loss amount of 0 yen and realized a cost reduction of 26,568,000 yen per year. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

At a wood processing manufacturer, there were frequent troubles with the conveyor for transporting "particle boards (3×6 feet × 80 sheets/1 lot)." There were requests such as, "The conveyor's top chain reaches its material lifespan at 1,650 rotations, so we want to replace it before then," and "We want a sensor that can reliably count so that we can ensure it is worn out by 1,650 rotations." Therefore, we installed the magnetic proximity switch "DW-350" made by Makome Research Institute under the conveyor and attached the magnetic body "SMG-100N" to the top chain. As a result of the improvement, by installing the "DW-350," we were able to manage the count of the top chain, transitioning from reactive maintenance to preventive maintenance. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

We have been using a stirrer for drug formulation, and until now, we managed the mixing process by timing it with the stirrer's button. Although we adjust the stirring time based on seasonal conditions, managing it by time means that any malfunction could lead to insufficient mixing and result in product defects. There have been requests such as "I want to monitor whether the stirrer is definitely running" and "I want to manage the stirrer's rotation speed and shorten the changeover time." We installed the magnetic proximity switch "DW-100" manufactured by Makome Research Institute on the stirrer, placing the "DW-100" next to the stirrer shaft, and affixing the magnetic bodies "SMG-100N" and "SMG-100S" around the shaft. As a result of this improvement, by installing the "DW-100," we can now manage the count of the stirrer, making the changeover process smoother. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

We manufacture approximately 40,000 iron balls with a diameter of 10φ every day, and among them, defective products (magnetized iron balls) are mixed in. Currently, only random sampling inspections are conducted, which allows defective products to escape. There was a request for "monitoring of magnetized iron balls on the automated line" and "to maintain a detection distance of 30mm between the detection object and the sensor due to the line structure." We installed the guide sensor "GS-116" manufactured by Makome Research Institute on the line conveyor, enabling the detection of the magnetic field of the iron balls and their expulsion (although this depends on the strength of the magnetic field). As a result of our improvements, we achieved a loss amount of zero for full inspections during the occurrence of defective products. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

The accuracy of the aluminum work cutting machine was unstable, leading to unnecessary work due to the need for accuracy checks every time. We are considering the introduction of a photoelectric system, but it was mentioned that "there is a possibility of false detection due to aluminum dust." We received requests such as "we want a scale that is not affected by aluminum dust" and "we don't mind an accuracy of about 0.1mm, but we want to keep the introduction costs low." Therefore, we installed the "SI-140PAC (Incremental)" made by Makome Research Institute on the aluminum cutting machine. As a result of the improvements, we reduced unnecessary inspection time and achieved zero in inspection time, inspection downtime, and inspection line downtime. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

At an automotive safety inspection company, the steering wheel rotation angle of vehicles was measured using optical sensors. However, due to issues such as light scattering and dust accumulation, "missed reading" errors occurred, leading to an increase in the number of tests and a significant decrease in work efficiency. There were requests for "sensors that are not affected by external disturbances" and "keeping the introduction costs as low as possible." The linear encoder system "SI-140 series" that we recommend consists of the magnetic detection head "SIE-140" and the magnetic scale "SIS-140." Installation is simply a matter of wrapping the "SI-140" around the steering axis of the vehicle. The number of measurement tests, which previously took 5 times, has been reduced to just 2, less than half. This has compressed the testing work and time, decreased "missed reading" errors, and improved testing accuracy. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.
