[Analysis Case] Evaluation of the Diffusion Layer of SiCMOSFET Using SCM and SMM

You can evaluate the p/n polarity and carrier concentration distribution of the SiC device's diffusion layer.

A cross-section of the SiC Planer Power MOSFET was fabricated, and the p/n polarity distribution of the diffusion layer was evaluated using SCM (Scanning Capacitance Microscopy), while the carrier concentration distribution was qualitatively assessed using SMM (Scanning Microwave Microscopy). From both sets of data, it was found that a p-type Body layer is formed in a two-layer structure around the n+ type Source layer, and that a Channel Epitaxial layer exists directly beneath the gate. At the edge of the Channel Epitaxial layer, a partial decrease in concentration was observed in the Source layer.

Current development efforts focus on a cord-like device, able to vary its rigidity to any given shape. These cord-like structures are specifically designed to operate effectively in biological, natural, and artificial environments where access can be challenging due to their narrow or obstacle-filled nature. They are frequently used in tools such as medical endoscopes and industrial videoscopes.   Conventional cord-like bodies include structures in which wires are threaded through beads, jamming mechanisms, mechanical methods, or structures that control rigidity by pressurizing a tube. However, none of these methods could fulfill all the required performance characteristics such as holding force, restoring force, a continuous structure, lightweight and thin design, and capability for long-distance deployment.  This invention addresses all these requirements by introducing a novel type of cord-like continuum body. Specifically, it employs an innovative combination of wire and rubber materials, thereby creating a structure capable of achieving a high level of holding strength through air pressure.

It is possible to efficiently distribute the drug to the deep tissues of the organs!

A method for injecting drugs into specific areas of the brain, known as Convection-Enhanced Delivery (CED), has been developed. The CED method involves the local injection of drugs under sustained positive pressure. Drugs administered into the bloodstream are limited in their delivery to the brain due to the blood-brain barrier; however, the CED method allows for efficient delivery of drugs into the brain tissue. Nonetheless, conventional CED methods have the drawback of taking a long time for drug distribution to the affected area (drug injection rate: 1-5 μL/min), requiring several days to administer the necessary amount. Therefore, the inventors have developed a device that allows for drug injection into deep brain areas and can efficiently distribute the drugs. By using this invention, it is expected that drugs can be delivered efficiently to deep tissues of solid organs such as the brain in a shorter time compared to conventional CED methods, thereby reducing the burden on patients.
