The performance verification of a rupture disk begins with the actual production of the rupture disk and its rupture. We empirically select materials with a plate thickness that meets the specifications, and then process that material into various forms, such as forming it into a dome, adding grooves, or making through-cuts. We then test the manufactured rupture disk by rupturing it to confirm whether it meets the specifications (performance). Once the tested rupture disk reaches a stage where it satisfies the specifications, we proceed to manufacture the product and the standard rupture test rupture disk. From a safety perspective, it is desirable to set the pressure that causes the rupture disk to burst as low as possible. On the other hand, it is generally more effective for the lifespan of the product to set the operating pressure higher, creating a larger difference from the set pressure. Therefore, considering the difference between the burst pressure and the operating pressure, as well as the allowable tolerance of the rupture disk, the specific pressure is determined based on the design pressure of the container in which it will be installed. This is an introduction to a case where the Brody Disk Mini was used as a solution for the strong adhesion of powder coatings at a powder equipment manufacturer. Based on the results of preliminary tests, we installed a total of 6 units: 2 on the lower section (near the discharge area) and 4 on the upper section. The main component of this device, the elastic disk, is made of silicone (special silicone) in standard models; however, in this case, we used EPDM material due to the nature of the substance being powder coating. We received a new inquiry from a rubber product manufacturer who adopted our equipment a long time ago. In the previous project, they used the Brodie Disk Mini to prevent fine powder bridging, and it was well received. Although quite some time has passed since then, it seems they have been using the elastic disks (silicone disks) stably without any degradation or damage. This time, they consulted us because the material tends to stick to the inner surface of the hopper, and they wanted to find a solution. The effectiveness of our equipment depends on the degree of sticking (adhesion), so we first installed one Brodie Disk (standard type) on just one surface, which yielded very good results. After installing a magnet bar to remove metal foreign objects, material began to remain in a rat hole shape at the upper part. We received an inquiry about wanting to address this with a blow disk. We installed four blow disks (standard type BD-15) at the same height on the upper half of the conical section, which resolved the rat hole-shaped residue that was occurring from the conical section to the cylindrical section.
