Common applications include research, quality control, and the investigation, selection, comparison, and performance evaluation of materials for manufacturing purposes. The characteristics measured by TA Instruments' DSC technology include glass transition, cold crystallization, phase changes, melting, crystallization, product stability, curing/curing reaction rates, and oxidation stability. The Tzero DSC technology recently developed by TA Instruments is an innovative and highly accurate method for measuring heat flow. It significantly improves baseline flatness, transition resolution, and sensitivity.
