Notification for Small Quantities of Hazardous Materials
KH-04 | Fire prevention ordinance | Small-quantity hazardous materials
Even below the designated quantity, one-fifth or more requires a notification. From calculating the multiple to checking the storage area and preparing the notification.
Even when the amount of hazardous materials is below the designated quantity, storing or handling one-fifth or more (but less than the full designated quantity) requires a notification under the municipal fire prevention ordinance (Fire Service Act Article 9-4). "Below the designated quantity" does not mean "no notification". When several materials are handled, their multiples are added together. Deadlines and structural standards for storage areas are set by municipal ordinances. In Osaka City, the notification must be filed with the competent fire station at least 7 days before storage or handling begins. Notifications are also required when materials or quantities change, or when storage ends. Our Class A Hazardous Materials Engineer picks out materials and quantities from your SDSs, calculates the multiple, checks whether the storage area meets the standards, and prepares and files the notification.
