Considerable effort has been put into enhancing its absorption and penetration in the body. *Silica in the body is found in the connective parts of collagen, and it is also present in nails and hair, which are primarily composed of keratin. Silica is used in the bonding of fibrous proteins. Additionally, silica is abundant in hyaluronic acid, which provides moisture to the skin, and in chondroitin found in joint cartilage. *Collagen in the body accounts for about 30% of all proteins, with 40% of that found in the skin and 20% in bones and cartilage. Since silica cannot be produced in the body, it is ideal to increase silica levels by actively consuming shellfish (which contain a high amount of silica, especially rice husks), seaweed, vegetables, legumes, and other foods.
