Case Study of Problem Solving

Introducing case studies of challenges we have solved, such as long-length transport in vacuum environments and clean rooms, compatibility with equipment space, and simplification of equipment design.

[Case Study] Improvement of Product Quality and Reduction of Running Costs

A case that led to a decrease in the rate of defective products and a reduction in the work of wiping off wear powder adhered to the products.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring (Full Ring)" implementation. In the existing equipment, a belt pulley was adopted due to concerns about backlash. While the occurrence of play was prevented due to the friction of the belt, dust from the worn belt adhered to the products, leading to defective products and the need for manual cleaning of the dust from the products, which became a challenge. After the implementation, maintenance became unnecessary, and the hassle of adjusting the belt tension was eliminated. 【Features】 - Maintains non-backlash while solving the issue of wear dust adhesion. - Reduces the number of mechanical components for belt tension adjustment, thereby reducing the maintenance work for regular tension adjustments. - Extends the maintenance cycle, contributing to a reduction in maintenance costs and running costs. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Long-Length Transport in Vacuum Environments and Clean Rooms

Suitable for needs such as transporting precision machinery and use in clean rooms!

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner." In a vacuum environment and clean room, stainless steel ball screws were used for transportation, but due to concerns about vibrations caused by deflection, transportation of lengths exceeding 1 meter was not possible, and we were searching for linear motion components to replace the ball screws. After implementation, similar to the conventional stainless steel ball screws, we maintained corrosion resistance and rust prevention effects while enabling smooth operation without deflection even for long-distance transportation exceeding 1 meter. 【Features】 - Compatible with vacuum environments and clean rooms due to corrosion resistance and rust prevention effects in stainless steel specifications, as well as various optional features. - Supports long-distance transportation and achieves high-precision positioning. - Contributes to cost reduction while meeting required specifications. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Adaptation to Equipment Space and Simplification of Equipment Design

An example where the motor is installed in the horizontal direction and the height from the table surface is controlled.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "Pearldex PDW Series." We were considering a turntable that operates at a constant pitch, but the challenge was that combining a servo motor with a reducer resulted in axial elongation. After implementation, the motor was installed horizontally, reducing the height from the table surface. Since the table, reducer, and motor are integrated, we were able to simplify the equipment design and consolidate suppliers. [Related Cases] - Improvement in takt time - Increased strength - Enhanced production efficiency through high-speed transport (gantry loader) *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Maintainability and Reduction of Running Costs

A case where the risk of interference with surrounding components has decreased, making work easier and leading to a reduction in man-hours.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring (Split Ring)." We are considering the TCG Ring as a backlash countermeasure for driving a rotating table. However, we need to be cautious to avoid interference with components around the ring and inside the hollow part in case the ring needs to be attached or detached during maintenance. Additionally, since it is necessary to measure the runout each time during installation, we have been exploring ways to reduce the labor involved. After implementation, we were able to easily install it, and the improved maintainability has helped us reduce maintenance and running costs. 【Features】 ■ The TCG Ring can be customized to your desired shape with special adaptations. ■ By using a split ring, only the necessary parts can be attached or detached. ■ When replacing only a part of the split ring, the adjustment work is easy because the already installed split ring serves as a reference. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Inspection Accuracy and Minimization of Play

A case where adoption was considered due to the high precision positioning and high maintainability provided by non-backlash mechanisms.

We would like to introduce a case where the drive mechanism of the indexing system, which previously used spur gears and belts, has been replaced with a "TCG ring." After implementation, the device layout became more streamlined, and due to the non-backlash and high precision, inspection at any stopping position became easier, resulting in a reduced frequency of errors. Additionally, by using the solid lubricant TLS (TCG Lubrication Supply System) attached to the pinion, maintenance has improved, contributing to a reduction in maintenance frequency and running costs. **Features** - Simplified positioning mechanism led to a more streamlined device layout. - High-precision positioning prevents inspection errors. - Extended maintenance cycles contribute to reduced maintenance costs and running costs. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Case Study] High-Precision Positioning, Elimination of Play

An example that contributed to improved maintainability and reduced maintenance frequency and running costs.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. There was a desire to use rack and pinion for the stocker transport in the automated warehouse; however, issues such as high noise levels and frequent maintenance were problematic. Therefore, there was a demand for higher precision of the equipment and improved maintainability. After implementation, the play that occurred during stops was eliminated, and errors in picking due to shocks and positional shifts no longer occurred. Additionally, while meeting the required takt time for the automated warehouse, we achieved smooth stops, reduced noise, and low wear, resulting in a longer lifespan. [Features] - Solves picking error issues with a non-backlash mechanism - Achieves takt time improvement with high-speed and smooth acceleration and deceleration - Extends maintenance cycles, contributing to reduced maintenance costs and running costs *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Simplification of Maintenance Work Around Wiring Using Split Rings

A case where the frequency of replacements has decreased, contributing to an overall reduction in maintenance costs.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring (Split Ring)." In a large processing machine, a standard 360° ring gear was used, but due to electrical wiring and air hoses running through the hollow section, it was necessary to disassemble the equipment and remove the entire ring gear during maintenance, which required significant time and manpower. By adopting the TCG split ring, it became possible to remove only the necessary parts for maintenance of the electrical wiring and air hoses, thereby reducing work time. Additionally, by switching from a single large ring gear to a split ring, the weight per piece became manageable for one person, leading to a reduction in the number of workers needed. 【Features】 ■ Changing to a split ring allows for the removal of only the necessary parts. ■ Simplification of work enables a reduction in personnel. ■ Low wear and long lifespan characteristics allow for a decrease in replacement frequency. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Achieving an Efficient Equipment Layout

A case where it was possible to achieve compactness of the entire device while improving stopping accuracy and maintainability.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring (Split Ring)" implementation. With the new development of a component shape inspection device, there was a demand for overall compactness of the device, necessitating the arrangement of peripheral components such as jigs and sensors around the outer perimeter of the table, which was a challenge as it was encroaching on the surrounding space. After implementation, the overall compactness of the device was achieved, leading to improvements in the surrounding environment (ensuring clear pathways for personnel movement) and simplification of the wiring layout. [Features] - Special adaptations for expanding the hollow diameter of the TCG Ring are possible. - The expansion of the TCG Ring's hollow diameter enables the compactness of the device. - We were able to meet the requirements for stopping accuracy and maintenance frequency. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Adoption of TCG Runners in Heavy Load Transportation

A case where maintenance and running costs were significantly reduced due to a decrease in the frequency of grease application!

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. In the transportation of flooring materials for an elevator manufacturer, a costly and large-scale chain mechanism was used to construct the drive unit. They had been exploring other transportation methods for some time, but due to the heavy weight and the backlash effects from gears and other mechanisms, there were issues with positional misalignment during stops, which led to problems such as impacts on subsequent processes and damage to the flooring materials, causing them to refrain from adoption. After implementation, the issues of wobbling during flooring material transportation were resolved, and the realization of smooth transportation operations allowed for the flooring materials to be transported smoothly to the next process, thereby reducing defects such as scratches and damage. 【Features】 ■ Achieves non-backlash and smooth acceleration/deceleration for heavy material transportation ■ Improved maintenance due to reduced frequency of grease application ■ Cost reduction through the extended lifespan of drive component parts *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Device Operating Speed and Simplification of Maintenance

A case where high precision was maintained while achieving increased speed and improved quietness.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. In the existing equipment, ball screws are used. We are considering the development of a new model with a long stroke specification, but long ball screws cause deflection, leading to increased vibration. Additionally, the long takt time made it difficult to meet the specifications required by the user. After implementation, by using the solid lubricant TLS (TCG Lubrication Supply System) attached to the pinion, maintenance has improved, contributing to a reduction in maintenance frequency and running costs. 【Features】 ■ Achieves high-speed operation and improved quietness while maintaining high precision ■ Extends maintenance cycles, contributing to reduced maintenance costs and running costs *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Processing and Production Efficiency, Cost Reduction

An example of cost reduction achieved by replacing a ball screw with a thick shaft diameter.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner." In the current product, a ball screw is used, but it has a large reduction ratio, resulting in long feed and return times, which negatively affects production efficiency. Additionally, due to the use of long ball screws, thicker shafts are required to address deflection, leading to increased costs. After implementation, we achieved stable long-stroke transport without the concerns of deflection associated with ball screws. 【Features】 - Improved production efficiency through high-precision positioning and increased speed - Achieved smooth acceleration and deceleration with non-backlash - Contributed to cost reduction by replacing thick shaft ball screws *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Compactification of Measurement Devices

A case where the entire device was made compact, achieving space-saving.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "RGU (TCG Cam Ring Unit)" implementation. The existing measurement device's index table had a small inner diameter, and all camera supports and wiring were installed outside the table, which cramped the factory space. After the implementation, we were able to install the camera supports and wiring inside the hollow of the table, making the entire device compact and achieving space-saving. 【Features】 ■ The unit has a large hollow diameter, allowing for the passage of structures and wiring. ■ The integration of the TCG ring, roller pinion, cross roller bearing, ball reducer, and motor attachment reduces design and labor costs. ■ It has a high load capacity, allowing it to adequately support the weight of the table and workpieces. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Production Efficiency through High-Speed Conveyance (Gantry Loader)

An example where the improvement in the loader's positioning accuracy led to the prevention of issues such as defects caused by problems with the stopping position.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner." We wanted to improve production efficiency by increasing the transport speed of a gantry loader that uses a rack and pinion on the drive axis. However, we were searching for alternatives because increasing the speed significantly reduced the lifespan of the rack and pinion and also increased noise levels. After implementation, we were able to increase the transport speed while maintaining lifespan and low noise levels. Additionally, wear on the rack and roller pinion was extremely minimal, and even after long-term use, there was no decline in stopping accuracy. Furthermore, the positioning accuracy of the loader improved, which helped prevent issues such as defects caused by problems with stopping positions. 【Features】 ■ Low wear and high durability even at high-speed operation ■ Rolling contact between the rack tooth surface and roller pin prevents noise generation ■ Non-backlash enables high-precision positioning *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Improvement of Product Quality and Reduction of Running Costs

A case where increasing the transport speed led to improved productivity.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. The use of rack and pinion was being considered, but dust generation due to wear of the rack and pinion was a significant issue. Additionally, it did not meet the required specifications for shock during acceleration and deceleration, durability, and maintenance frequency. After implementation, the amount of dust generation was significantly reduced, the defect rate decreased, and smooth acceleration and deceleration became possible, allowing for an increase in transport speed and contributing to improved productivity. Furthermore, due to its high maintenance characteristics and long lifespan, it also helped reduce running costs such as maintenance expenses. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Case Study] Positioning of the Turntable

Installation is possible in limited spaces! Here are examples of how we were able to make the equipment more compact.

We would like to introduce a case study of our slim-type gear reducer, the "JFR Series." In a turntable used for the press-fitting process of parts, a gear reducer and a rotating table were combined. However, there was an issue where the position of the workpiece shifted due to backlash and impact during stops. After the introduction, we were able to eliminate the shift and impact during stops. [Case Overview (Partial)] ■ Issue - In a turntable used for the press-fitting process of parts, a gear reducer and a rotating table were combined, but there was an issue where the position of the workpiece shifted due to backlash and impact during stops. *For more details, please refer to the PDF document or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Completely Maintenance-Free and Reduced Running Costs

No refueling work is required from the initial refueling to the rated lifespan! A case where longevity and quietness have been improved.

We would like to introduce a case where our "TCG Runner" and "TLS (TGC Lubrication Supply System)" were adopted. In the stocker transport section of the machine tool, a rack and pinion system was used. However, during lubrication maintenance, the installation location of the rack was set at a high and difficult-to-work area, resulting in significant labor costs for maintenance, prompting a search for a solution. After adoption, maintenance-free operation was achieved without the need for additional lubrication, contributing to a reduction in maintenance frequency and running costs. [Case Overview] ■ Issue: The installation location of the rack during lubrication maintenance was set at a high and difficult-to-work area, resulting in significant labor costs for maintenance. ■ Effects: - Achieved maintenance-free operation without the need for additional lubrication, contributing to a reduction in maintenance frequency and running costs. - Improved longevity and reduced noise due to low wear characteristics. *Details of the case can be viewed via the related link. [Case Study] Achieving High-Precision Positioning and Space Saving

Utilizing the feature of having teeth on the inside of the cam ring! An example where the workability of internal wiring and other tasks in the equipment has also improved.

We would like to introduce a case where our "TCG Inner Tooth Ring" was adopted. In order to achieve high-precision positioning for the swivel drive part of observation equipment such as radar, we considered using the TCG ring. However, there were space limitations in the equipment, and there was no room to install a drive source outside the cam ring. After adoption, we achieved space-saving while maintaining high speed ratios and high-precision positioning in observation equipment with space constraints. [Challenges] - There were space limitations in the equipment, and there was no room to install a drive source outside the cam ring. - We also considered rotating the motor and reducer from the center of the swivel axis, but the torque was insufficient, and we were exploring methods. *Details of the case can be viewed through the related link. [Case Study] Transporting Heavy Loads

Examples of demonstrating capabilities in large machining machines that require high positioning accuracy and high torque!

We would like to introduce a case study of our precision differential gearbox, the "NSP Series." In a large machining machine considering the use of TCG runners (CPC/CRC4012 type) for workpiece transport, we were looking for a gearbox to use alongside the TCG runner that could withstand high load capacities while leveraging the TCG runner's high positioning accuracy. After implementation, we were able to design a device that met the requirements for workpiece transport in large machining machines by using the NSP in conjunction with the TCG runner (CPC/CRC4012 type). 【Features】 - High precision and rigidity achieved through multiple meshing of trochoidal gears and precision rollers - Demonstrates capability in large machining machines requiring high positioning accuracy and high torque - Roller pinion is pre-assembled with the gearbox - Dedicated motor attachment is installed - Contributes to reducing assembly work hours *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Camlock Two-Row Synchronous Operation

By arranging two columns in parallel, it became possible to transport loads up to 1.5 times the allowable load!

We would like to introduce a case study of our TCG runner "CRA & CPA/CRC & CPC series." We were considering the TCG runner "CPC/CRC4012 model" for the transfer of heavy loads, but since the load of the transported items exceeded the cam rack's allowable load, we were exploring other transportation methods. By using two rows of TCG runners in parallel, we were able to transport heavy items that could not be handled by a single row. 【Features】 - Synchronous drive is easy to achieve due to the absence of backlash. - Since the roller pinion and rack tooth surface are in constant contact, the contact points of each tooth can be distributed to two points, allowing for the transport of high-load items through parallel use. - By arranging two rows in parallel, it is possible to transport loads up to 1.5 times the allowable load. - High maintenance performance (using TLS) and low wear characteristics contribute to a longer product lifespan and reduced running costs. *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Noise Reduction of Medical Equipment

An example where the gear meshing part has rolling contact, allowing for noise reduction of the device.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. In medical institutions, large inspection devices (such as CT and MRI) used gears for the rotation drive parts and the elevation/travel parts of the bed. However, due to the close proximity of people to the equipment, the noise generated during operation became a challenge. After the implementation, replacing the gear drive parts with our product eliminated the unpleasant gear noise, making it quieter than the conventional drive noise. 【Features】 - The contact area between the roller pinion and cam teeth is a rolling contact, achieving low noise, low wear, and low dust generation. Because of the very low wear, it can be safely used in clean environments. - With no backlash, high-precision positioning is possible, allowing for delicate adjustments during equipment operation. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Inversion Device for Large Circuit Boards

A case where the running costs such as material costs and labor costs incurred during maintenance have been reduced.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring Unit RGU (R Guide Specification)." We were considering using a timing belt drive for the inversion device of large substrates to address backlash issues. However, as we used it, dust generation due to wear and maintenance challenges from belt elongation became problematic, prompting us to explore other drive methods. After implementation, we achieved non-backlash and low-dust operation. Additionally, the engagement points between the roller pinion and cam ring have rolling contact, resulting in low dust generation and low wear. 【Features】 - The amount of grease required for lubrication is minimal, and the wear on the tooth surface is extremely small, leading to high maintenance efficiency and the potential to reduce running costs such as material and labor expenses incurred during maintenance. - Since it is a unit type that combines the TCG ring, roller pinion, R guide, and ball reducer, it is also possible to reduce the man-hours required for design and assembly. *For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Labor-Saving Device with Multiple Head Drive

An example of contributing to the reduction of malfunction rates by replacing the rack and pinion with a TCG runner.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Runner" implementation. To consolidate the various processes of the labor-saving device into one, we considered manufacturing a device that completes the work in one process by arranging multiple pinions on the same rack. However, placing the rack and pinion in the same line resulted in significant variation in stopping positions, which led to issues. After implementation, the stopping accuracy improved, and positioning control with multiple heads became possible. Additionally, wear on the tooth surfaces was reduced, and the frequency of rack replacement and maintenance was significantly decreased, contributing to lower running costs. **Features** - High-precision positioning is possible - No impact from backlash during stopping - Smooth switching between forward and reverse due to non-backlash rolling contact - Minimal wear on tooth surfaces due to rolling contact in the meshing area, reducing the running costs required for replacement *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.*

[Case Study] Robot Swivel Axis Utilizing Large-Diameter Hollow

An example where replacing with a TCG ring made it possible to secure the hollow diameter of the pivot axis.

We would like to introduce a case study of our "TCG Ring (Full Ring Type)." We attempted to streamline the appearance by passing cables and air hoses through the robot's swivel axis, but we were unable to do so due to insufficient hollow diameter in the reducer, and we were exploring other methods. After implementation, it became possible to secure a hollow diameter in the swivel axis, allowing us to pass cables and air hoses into the robot arm. 【Features】 ■ Large diameter hollow allows for the passage of cables and air hoses through the swivel axis ■ High precision positioning is possible ■ Achieves non-backlash and high reduction ratio by combining with SFP ■ No impact from backlash occurs when stopped *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Variable Speed Control Specifications for Pearldex

Achieving optimization of production takt time! A case where the versatility and flexibility of the equipment have significantly improved.

We would like to introduce a case where the introduction of the "PDW Series," which involved changing to a three-phase induction motor, successfully addressed the challenge of controlling indexing speed. The standard specification includes a single-phase induction motor, which has the limitation of operating at a constant speed due to its characteristics. As a result, there were cases where production sites raised more advanced demands to control the indexing speed according to the type of workpiece and the situation of the process. We proposed a solution to change the motor combined with the Pearl Decks to a "three-phase induction motor." This allowed for flexible adjustment of indexing speed through rotational speed control using an inverter. [Challenges] ■ There is a need for variable speed control to optimize takt time, such as low-speed operation to suppress vibrations during workpiece transport or high-speed operation to maximize production capacity. However, the standard motor may not meet these needs, which can prevent the overall performance of the equipment from being maximized. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Single Shaft Specification of Air Index Cylinder

Overcoming constraints of installation space! A case that contributed to the overall improvement of production efficiency.

We would like to introduce a case study of the air index cylinder "MDF series" that we handle. We observed that the structure with shafts protruding on both sides posed significant constraints in terms of interference with other components, cable wiring, and securing maintenance space. By eliminating the shaft on the unused side and shortening the overall length, the MDF main body was miniaturized, allowing the product to be smoothly accommodated in narrow spaces where integration had previously been difficult. [Challenges] - Difficulty in integrating into the limited space inside the equipment - Resulted in an increase in the overall size of the equipment and complexity of the design - Potentially led to extended development periods and increased costs *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Stainless Steel Shaft specification for Air Index Cylinder

An example of changing the shaft material to stainless steel to improve durability in a water environment.

We would like to introduce a case study involving the air index cylinder "MDF series" that we handle. In environments such as cleaning processes in food processing lines, equipment installed outdoors, or low-temperature environments where condensation frequently occurs, there have been cases where rust develops on the shafts (material: iron) used in the standard specification of MDF. By changing the shaft material from standard iron to stainless steel, the MDF was able to operate without compromising its performance and reliability, even in environments where water is present. [Case Overview] ■ Challenges - Rust was developing on the shaft (material: iron) in water-prone environments. ■ Effects and Benefits - Rust formation on the shaft was dramatically suppressed. - Deterioration of the shaft surface was prevented, ensuring smooth operation at all times. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Waterproof Specification for Air Index Table

Ensuring stable operation of the equipment! A case where the need for maintenance work has significantly decreased.

We would like to introduce a case study of the air index table 'MT Series' that we handle, which has been equipped with waterproof specifications. In applications exposed to high humidity environments or direct water splashes, such as food-related equipment and washing lines that use water, moisture intrusion into the MT interior was a challenge depending on the usage. To address this issue, we implemented measures to apply "waterproof specifications" to the MT. This has extended the stable operating period of the equipment and significantly reduced the occurrence of unexpected stoppages and the need for maintenance work associated with them. [Measures] - Optimization of seal structure - Arrangement and selection of O-rings - Thorough application of adhesive to screw parts - Addition of waterproof plates - Air purge compatibility - Waterproof performance equivalent to IP65 *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

[Case Study] Prevent Moisture Ingress in Ball Reducer

Enabling operation in harsh environments! A case that has led to longer maintenance cycles and reduced frequency of parts replacement.

We would like to introduce a case study involving the implementation of the ball reduction gear 'BR Series' with a simple waterproof specification. In production lines using reduction gears, there was a challenge where moisture intrusion into the gear was confirmed under specific conditions. This trend was particularly observed in equipment involved in cleaning processes, environments prone to condensation, or outdoor usage, where exposure to moisture was frequent. As a result of the implementation, moisture intrusion into the reduction gear was significantly suppressed. Issues such as rusting of internal components and emulsification or degradation of grease were resolved, allowing the original lubrication state of the reduction gear to be maintained over an extended period. [Case Overview] ■ Challenge - Moisture intrusion into the reduction gear was confirmed in equipment involved in cleaning processes and in environments prone to condensation. ■ Effects and Benefits - Moisture intrusion into the reduction gear was significantly suppressed. - Issues such as rusting of components and emulsification or degradation of grease were resolved. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.
