The document consists of two parts: the main body and the annexes. The main body is created based on ISO 4180, with technical content modified to reflect Japan's unique circumstances, while Annexes A and B are presented without changes to the content of ISO 4180: 2009. "JIS Z0212 (Compression Test Method)" is a testing method used to evaluate whether packaging goods and containers made of metal, wood, cardboard, paperboard, plastic, or a combination of these materials are appropriate or not. The testing methods primarily include "Method A," which conducts a compression test on packaging goods to investigate damage to the contents due to the compression load specified in JIS Z 0212, and "Method B," which performs a compression test on empty containers to determine the compression strength of the container itself. There are not a few cases where damage occurs during the distribution process of packaged goods until they arrive at their destination. Among the damages to transported goods within Japan, a significant portion, accounting for 77%, is caused by dynamic stress believed to result from substantial external forces applied to packaged goods, such as "breakage, bending, denting, and deformation." Packaging testing refers to the evaluation of the durability of products and packaged goods against physical impacts such as drop shocks, vibrations, and compression from stacking, as well as changes in temperature, humidity, and atmospheric pressure during the distribution process (transportation). It is conducted to verify product quality in advance and to prevent damage during actual transportation. Since it can assess the strength and durability of packaging necessary to protect products during transport, it is used in many industries. The compression test is an important test to evaluate the durability of packaged goods against the compressive forces they encounter during the distribution process.
