Free membership registration**Lecture Content** Energy conservation is an important issue for our country, and the significance of insulation materials used for this purpose goes without saying. Recently, a roadmap for mandatory insulation in buildings was announced, and the obligation for insulation will be implemented sequentially starting with large-scale buildings. In order to enhance the thermal insulation of buildings in the future, simply increasing the thickness of insulation materials has its limits. Therefore, the development of high-performance insulation materials is urgently needed, and various insulation materials, including VIP (Vacuum Insulation Panels), are being developed. Taking VIP as an example, its thermal conductivity is less than one-tenth that of conventional insulation materials, which leads to issues with measurement accuracy when using traditional thermal conductivity measurement devices. There are many considerations to address in order to measure low thermal conductivity materials like VIP with a level of uncertainty comparable to that of conventional insulation materials. This lecture will explain the issues and solutions related to evaluating low thermal conductivity materials, aiming to contribute to future material development.

Free membership registrationPart 1 [Lecture Summary] NTC thermistors are utilized as temperature sensors due to their characteristic of exponentially decreasing electrical resistance with rising temperature. First, I will explain the applications and types of thermistor materials. I will also take the example of the Mn-Co-Ni ternary oxide, one of the thermistor materials, and explain its electrical properties while showing actual products. Furthermore, I will introduce the crystal structure of thermistor materials and discuss their electrical properties, including thermistor characteristics and conduction mechanisms. Next, I will highlight the issues with the general manufacturing methods of thermistor materials and explain the manufacturing method and electrical properties of cubic spinel-type single-phase sintered bodies to achieve stable electrical characteristics. Part 2 [Lecture Summary] PTC thermistors exhibit a very unique resistance-temperature characteristic, showing low resistance at room temperature and a sharp increase in resistance at a specific temperature. This characteristic is utilized for overcurrent protection and temperature detection in AV equipment, PCs, mobile phones, game consoles, and automobiles. In particular, for overcurrent protection, they act as fuses that automatically reset when the abnormal condition is cleared, and for temperature detection, they have the feature of enabling temperature detection at multiple points with a single detection circuit.

Free membership registration**Lecture Summary** The new film formation technology utilizing the phenomenon of particle collision solidification, which forms a ceramic film on a substrate by dispersing and mixing ceramic microparticles in gas and then injecting them at high speed from a nozzle to collide with the substrate, has characteristics such as the ability to form thick films relatively easily at room temperature, resulting in dense structures composed of nanometer-level crystallite sizes. Due to its dense quality, the film exhibits high hardness, excellent adhesion to the substrate, and superior electrical insulation properties. This method allows for the film formation of various materials, including oxides such as alumina, titanium oxide, barium titanate, lead zirconate titanate (PZT), and yttria, as well as non-oxide materials like silicon carbide, and it also enables the composite of different materials. Additionally, since the film formation occurs at room temperature, it can be applied to low melting point materials such as resins and metals. In this presentation, I will discuss the characteristics of this film formation technology, compare it with conventional film formation methods, explore the relationships of various parameters affecting film formation, and discuss the application developments of this film material.

Free membership registrationPart 1 [Lecture Summary] In response to the demand for miniaturization of automotive products, various characteristics are required for each capacitor in relation to implementation technology. This will be explained, including reliability. Part 2 [Lecture Summary] We have successfully achieved high voltage (25-63V) by adding an electrolyte based on this conductive polymer, and have released it to the market as a "conductive polymer hybrid aluminum electrolytic capacitor." We believe this will significantly contribute to the miniaturization of drive inverter circuits for brushless DC motors, which have seen remarkable adoption in the automotive ECU market. In this seminar, we will explain the technical overview of hybrid capacitors, including comparisons with aluminum electrolytic capacitors. Part 3 [Lecture Overview] Technically, thinning and multilayering are being rapidly advanced for miniaturization and high capacity. To further promote thinning and multilayering in the future, the importance of the manufacturing process, along with the dielectric and internal electrodes, is increasing. We will discuss the essential technological elements and various materials needed for the further development of multilayer ceramic capacitors from a materials technology perspective. We plan to address not only the ideal state of dielectric materials but also innovations in electrode materials and process technology.

Free membership registration**[Lecture Summary]** Currently, when looking at the products that Japanese companies are introducing to the market, many companies are launching similar functional products in a single product category. For example, flat-screen TVs, personal computers, mobile phones, many home appliances, gyudon (beef bowls), and groceries can be cited. This situation is referred to as parallel competition, where customers find that there is little added value regardless of which product they purchase, leading them to choose based on their preferred brand or lower price. The parallel low-price competition triggered by these companies has resulted in deflation. Indeed, it presents a situation where a survival strategy for Japanese companies is necessary. For Japanese companies, an important countermeasure is to create unique innovations and find ways to break away from parallel competition. To generate unique and excellent innovations, early-stage research management is crucial. This seminar will focus on this phase and clearly present specific management methods and know-how from a practical perspective.
