**Lecture Summary** In lithium batteries, gas generation can occur from the battery's constituent materials. This is particularly closely related to the stability of the electrolyte. Gas generation is a significant issue that leads not only to a decline in battery performance but also to a deterioration in the reliability of industrial products. This lecture will discuss the mechanisms of gas generation and suppression strategies from the perspective of battery materials.

Free membership registration**Lecture Summary** There are few technical books that explain the noise of automobiles, and even in the field of automobile development, there remains a trial-and-error approach to design and noise control. In this lecture, I will first explain the characteristics and analysis methods of typical noises generated inside the vehicle, such as cabin noise caused by vibrations from the engine and drivetrain, road noise from surface inputs, and wind noise from airflow. Next, I will introduce the basic concepts of vibration control, sound insulation, and sound absorption, the differentiation of noise types and frequencies, and examples of their application in automobiles.

Free membership registration**Part 1: Summary of the Lecture** Paints used outdoors are damaged by ultraviolet rays contained in sunlight, losing their gloss and sometimes even failing to function as a protective film for the underlying materials. To protect these paints from UV damage, UV absorbers and HALS (light stabilizers) are added. The reason automotive paints can maintain their gloss for over ten years is, of course, due to the development and improvement of the materials by paint manufacturers, but such durability would not be achievable without these additives. In this session, I will introduce the characteristics of each and explain the points to consider in formulation design. **Part 2: Summary of the Lecture** Water-based and UV-curable systems are beneficial methods suitable for making paints more environmentally friendly. I will present examples and the chemical theories behind achieving solutions to issues such as foaming and difficulty in wetting the substrate associated with water-based systems, as well as performance improvements utilizing the reaction curing with UV monomers and oligomers, all achieved through the use of additives. **Part 3: Summary of the Lecture** I have worked at Nippon Paint Co., Ltd. for 40 years, particularly involved in the research, development, and application of automotive paints. I hope that the knowledge I have gained about additives during this process will be of some benefit to all of you.

Free membership registration【Keywords】 1. Basic utilization methods of official documents for setting standards for cosmetic ingredients 2. Common issues pointed out during the review process 3. Analytical methods for establishing standards and testing methods for so-called medicated cosmetics 【Lecture Summary】 Quasi-drugs and cosmetics, like pharmaceuticals, are used on humans, and manufacturers are responsible for the overall product. Quasi-drugs consist of various ingredients, many of which are specified in various official documents and notifications regarding standards and verification methods. However, for ingredients classified as Category 1 or Category 3, it is necessary to create new application materials. Therefore, the standards for quasi-drug ingredients and the Japanese Pharmacopoeia serve as references, but in individual cases with diverse types and forms, it is not easy to interpret the content and intent indicated in the official documents and notifications and to establish appropriate standards and testing methods for those ingredients. Thus, this lecture aims to explain the perspective on various official documents and the analytical methods underlying the standards and testing methods for quasi-drug ingredients.

Free membership registration**Part 1: Summary of the Lecture** Plastic and glass are primarily used as pharmaceutical packaging materials, and efforts are underway to harmonize standards through international conferences on the three major pharmacopoeias among Japan, Europe, and the United States. The standards of the Japanese pharmacopoeia are limited in scope and contain many ambiguities, resulting in numerous differences compared to those in Europe and the United States. This presentation will introduce a comparison of the current situations in Japan, Europe, and the United States, the status of international harmonization, points to consider regarding materials used, and how companies can advance risk management for packaging materials. **Part 2: Summary of the Lecture** I will explain how the technical features of functional films from Kyodo Printing can help solve challenges in pharmaceuticals, using case studies as examples. **Part 3: Summary of the Lecture** PTP (Press Through Package) is one of the most outstanding packaging materials for the distribution of tablets and capsules. Developed in Europe and popularized in Japan around the 1960s, PTP has remained largely unchanged for nearly half a century, and no alternative packaging form has emerged to replace it. This lecture will introduce the basic design of PTP and the trends in technology for the future.
