We proposed solderable nickel plating with soldering strength equivalent to zinc plating!

We would like to introduce a case where we successfully achieved cost reduction through a VA proposal for our customer. Company N, related to electronic components, approached us due to concerns about cost reduction and whisker formation for a product with a zinc die-cast case that requires soldering a printed circuit board and components using copper plating + nickel plating (for diffusion prevention) + tin plating. Q. Can silver plating be done in a barrel? A. Yes, it can. With barrel plating, it is possible to achieve silver plating on shapes that are prone to overlapping or bending.

Direct copper plating on aluminum alloy

Q. I would like direct copper plating on aluminum die casting, but I was told that electroless nickel is necessary as a base. Is it not possible to do direct copper plating?

A. It is possible. The image shows direct copper plating on A5052 extruded material, but there is absolutely no problem with direct copper plating on aluminum die-cast ADC12 as well. Currently, when plating aluminum, it has become common to apply a base layer of nickel plating or electroless nickel plating, and then overlay the necessary plating layer on the nickel plating film. Our company is capable of directly copper plating or directly nickel plating aluminum die-cast and aluminum materials for stretching. In response to various customer requests, we have established the technology for direct copper plating on aluminum.
