Did you know that trivalent chromium plating can be done in a barrel?

Environmentally friendly trivalent chrome plating can be done in barrels. For small parts, it can lead to cost reduction. First, please try a prototype and evaluate it.

Trivalent chromium plating can be done using barrel plating, but hexavalent chromium plating cannot be done using barrel plating. Our company performs chromium plating using a plating solution with trivalent chromium compounds in a barrel. It has good uniform electrodeposition properties, and trivalent chromium plating adheres well to areas with shapes that are difficult for electricity to reach. For small parts, I believe you can achieve a cost-effective plating appearance and functionality.

Zinc-Cobalt alloy plating

The appearance is similar to hexavalent chromium plating, and it provides good plating coverage even on complex shapes. It is ideal for cost reduction from hexavalent chromium plating for small parts!

It has been used as an alternative plating to chrome plating. Since it has good adhesion for plating, it can be barrel plated even for parts with shapes like blind holes. When compared to trivalent chrome barrel plating: - Corrosion resistance (with the same substrate specifications): Trivalent chrome plating > Tin-cobalt alloy plating - Plating adhesion: Trivalent chrome plating < Tin-cobalt alloy plating - Which is more expensive: Trivalent chrome plating > Tin-cobalt alloy plating Hexavalent chrome plating has excellent film hardness and corrosion resistance, but it can only be plated using fixtures. In contrast, tin-cobalt alloy plating and trivalent chrome plating can be barrel plated, which leads to higher productivity and easier cost reduction. Each has its own characteristics, so I believe it is important to choose based on the intended use and other factors. Solderable nickel plating is an original technology developed by our company, providing electrical nickel plating with solderability equivalent to tin plating. Since it is nickel plating, whiskers do not occur from the plating film! Tin plating has excellent solderability, but it has the drawback of whisker generation. When whiskers grow at the connection points of electronic circuits, it can lead to shorts and the following issues: - System downtime - Equipment failure - Accidents such as fires "Our plating has good solderability like tin plating and is effective against whiskers!" This is possible with our company! Over 10 years have passed since its development, and it has a proven track record with many customers adopting it. Solderable nickel plating uses only nickel sulfate, nickel chloride, boric acid, and a gloss agent (equivalent to widely used commercial products) as liquid components. Since no additives to improve solder wettability are used, we do not use any substances that would violate the RoHS directive or REACH regulations. We will introduce a case where we solved the functional characteristic challenges faced by our customer and were adopted through a VE proposal. Case 1: "VE Proposal" High corrosion-resistant chrome plating "Alon Chrome Plating" for aluminum die-cast materials ■ Connector Company J We received an inquiry regarding the plating of aluminum die-cast (ADC 12) for infrastructure connector housings, with the condition of no white rust occurring after 500 hours of JIS neutral salt spray testing. Among the conditions, there was a requirement not only for "corrosion resistance" but also for "no cracking due to crimping," which necessitated a coating with high ductility. We proposed our original technology, high corrosion-resistant chrome plating "Alon Chrome Plating," and through prototyping and evaluation, we successfully passed the salt spray test for 500 hours without rust and without cracking from crimping, leading to mass production.

Antibacterial plating

About Silvec's antibacterial plating

We created test specimens using four types of plating that are believed to have high antibacterial properties and conducted tests based on JIS Z 2801 at a formal evaluation institution. The test bacteria used were Staphylococcus aureus, and polyethylene film was used as the unprocessed test specimen. The results showed that three types of plated test specimens had antibacterial activity values of 2.0 or higher. It is stipulated that if the antibacterial activity value is 2.0 or higher, the product has antibacterial effects. While antibacterial properties were confirmed in the three types of plating, we also understand that there are specially high-effect plating types (with antibacterial activity values of 5.0 or higher). Q: Is it possible to plate stainless steel (SUS)? A: Yes, it is possible. A nickel strike plating (a thin film with high adhesion) can be applied to stainless steel (SUS), allowing for various plating options on top of it. Our company can accommodate both jig and barrel plating methods. Our plating and chemical treatment surface processes comply with the RoHS directive.

Q: Can silver plating be done with barrel plating? A: Yes, barrel plating can be done. The size of the products that can be silver plated depends on the shape and base material, but we can accommodate products as small as about 2x2mm.
