Strengthening Book of Screws (Vol. 54) Hydrogen is the Trickster in Electroplating!

It is possible to reduce the risk of delay and destruction! Introducing our company's blog.

When applying electroplating such as electric zinc plating (which of course includes chromate treatment in this case) or electric nickel plating, one must be cautious of "hydrogen embrittlement." Also referred to as hydrogen brittleness, this phenomenon occurs when steel absorbs hydrogen during the plating process, leading to the formation of internal cavities and a reduction in strength. As a result, bolts may fracture. This is known as "delayed fracture," and when it occurs, it can lead to the failure of the bolted joint, making it extremely dangerous. *For more detailed information, please refer to the related links on the blog. Feel free to contact us for further inquiries.*

Strengthening Manual for Screws (Vol. 53) Nickel won't become a sacrifice for iron!

Good thermal conductivity also helps prevent screw seizing!

The sacrificial corrosion protection effect refers to zinc sacrificing itself to rust, preventing red rust from forming on steel materials, and this is the greatest advantage of electroplated zinc. On the contrary, there are also platings where the sacrificial corrosion protection effect does not occur. Nickel plating, copper plating, and even silver plating and gold plating all have a lower ionization tendency than iron (Fe), making them noble metals, and thus do not exhibit the sacrificial corrosion protection effect. *For more details, you can view the related links on the blog. [Technical Column] Things to Consider When Processing Electroplating on Screws

Explaining the features, principles, and precautions of electroplating! Introducing our company's technical column.

Electroplating is a very popular surface treatment for screws. Compared to hot-dip galvanizing, electroless plating, and painting surface treatments, it is also lower in cost, and products treated in this way are available on the market. If there are no commercially available products with plating, it is possible to request treatment from a processing factory for the required quantity. However, there are precautions and prohibitions that must be observed during this process. This column explains the characteristics and principles of electroplating, as well as important considerations, providing useful information for when you request electroplating. *For detailed content of the column, you can view it through the related links. For more information, please feel free to contact us.*

Electromagnetic wave shielding special alloy plating *Blocks electromagnetic waves over a wide range of 80 dB or more.

Significantly improved shielding performance! Coating can be applied to various shapes that cannot be handled by metal foils or sealing materials, achieving weight reduction by switching the base material of the components.

In recent years, with the increase in electronic devices around us, the sources of electromagnetic noise have also increased proportionally. Since electromagnetic noise poses a risk of causing malfunctions in peripheral devices, the necessity for EMC measures such as "not emitting electromagnetic noise" and "not being affected by noise" has become more significant. In response, traditional measures using metal foils, seals, and sheet types have faced challenges regarding weight, workability, and electromagnetic wave shielding effectiveness. Yuken Industrial has leveraged its long-developed surface treatment technology for "plastic components" to address these challenges. 【Features】 - Significantly improved shielding effectiveness compared to metal foil and seal types - Capable of coating various shapes that cannot be addressed by metal foils, seals, or sheet materials - Lightweight due to switching from metal substrates - Blocks electromagnetic waves over a wide range of 80db or more *We are always accepting test processing requests. For more details, please download the PDF or feel free to contact us.

Electric Indium Plating DAIN IN-161PL

Electroindium plating solution

Indium (In) is a metal that easily diffuses into various metals and has excellent alkali resistance, with characteristics such as a low melting point (156°C). In plating has good corrosion resistance against organic acids in lubricating oils, and its load-bearing capacity, wear resistance, and seizure resistance are outstanding, making it widely used for surface treatments such as bearings. DAIN IN-161PL is an electroplating solution based on organic sulfonic acid. It produces a uniform and fine-particle white coating. The stability of the plating solution over time is also good, and bath management is easy.

【Vacuum Coating and Painting Examples】Shells, Mallet, Tai Fish Object

Dry plating (vacuum deposition) can be processed on various materials. It can express vibrant colors and is suitable for everything from small items to large exhibition displays.

The other day, while having a BBQ, I had a spark of curiosity and playfulness, wondering if coating seashells with metal would make them interesting, and I actually went ahead with the processing. I believe the result has a unique texture while also presenting an interesting flavor. Also, if someone were to ask what comes to mind when thinking of the mallet of luck or sea bream, what would you first think of? ⇒ It would likely be related to the Seven Lucky Gods, prosperity in business, or money. We have been applying shiny plating to these items, which are said to bring good fortune, since the time of our predecessors. As a result, we are helping to further enhance good luck so that everyone can receive blessings, with a celebratory (sea bream) touch. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

【Vacuum Coating and Painting Examples】For detailed items such as mirror rice cakes and origami-style cranes.

Meiwa Vacuum can perform plating processing in various sizes, from life-sized mannequins and large parts to small components.

Introducing auspicious items that we have processed with plating. (1) Kagami Mochi This is something we processed in a prototype in the past. It is beautifully finished from any angle, and the curved lines of the kagami mochi reflect light, showcasing its color. (2) Origami-style Golden Crane The crane is also a symbol of good fortune, and this one has been processed in a golden color. Depending on the viewing angle, it can appear like origami or an inorganic object, making it an interesting piece. Just displaying it in an entrance or similar area brings good fortune and makes for a piece that never gets boring. *For more details, please feel free to contact us.

Differences between wet plating and dry plating (vacuum plating) in surface treatment and coating processes.

Did you know that "plating," which is done for decoration, corrosion protection, and functionality, can be broadly classified into two categories? *Explanatory materials are currently available.

The main difference between dry plating and wet plating is whether or not a water solution is used during the plating process. ▼ Wet Plating The object is immersed in a solution, utilizing electrolysis or chemical reactions to form a coating. ▼ Dry Plating (Vacuum Plating) After initially applying a coating to the object, this plating technique involves evaporating metals or metal oxides in a vacuum state to form a "thin metal film" on the surface of the object. ★ This method is used for various applications, such as forming thin or special films and plating non-metals, so our company performs plating processing using commonly available materials. Please check other pages as well. We are currently offering a document summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of vacuum plating in PDF format. *For more details, please download the catalog or contact us. Meiwa Vacuum Co., Ltd. has nearly half a century of experience. We can provide a consistent response from mold creation to injection molding and plating processing.
