Solderable nickel plating (electrolytic nickel plating for soldering)

Features of Silvex's solderable nickel plating

Features of solderable nickel plating 1. Achieves solder wetting properties equivalent to tin plating through electro nickel plating. 2. No whisker formation due to being nickel plated. 3. Effective for cost reduction (VA proposal for specification changes from tin plating, solder plating, silver plating, etc.). 4. Balances appearance and surface hardness with solderability. 5. Can be selected from barrel plating or jig (hook) plating depending on the shape.

Case Study of Solutions and Cost Reduction (VA Proposal) Case 4

We would like to introduce a case where we successfully achieved cost reduction through a VA proposal for our client.

Case 4: Trivalent Chromium Plating (Barrel Plating) ■ Electric Manufacturer F Company For a product from our client company, we were performing nickel + decorative chromium plating (hexavalent chromium) on small aluminum A 5052 machined parts using jigs. The required quality included specified film thickness, no scratches, and corrosion resistance with no white rust occurring after 48 hours in the JIS neutral salt spray test. However, since the products were small in size, we proposed barrel nickel plating + barrel trivalent chromium plating. As a result of prototype evaluation, we cleared all the required quality standards, leading to a specification change and achieving cost reduction.

Can aluminum be nickel plated with solderable nickel?

Can aluminum be nickel plated with solderable nickel?

Q: Is it possible to apply solderable nickel plating on aluminum? A: Solderable nickel plating (electrolytic nickel plating for soldering) can be applied to aluminum materials. Plating processes such as jig plating and barrel plating are possible. There are no restrictions on the type of aluminum material; it can be applied to rolled aluminum alloys as well as cast aluminum alloys like aluminum die casting without any issues.

Can you handle crab plating?

Q: Is Kanizen plating available? A: Kanizen plating is a trademark name for electroless nickel solution, and when Kanizen is mentioned in the drawings, it generally refers to electroless nickel plating. Our electroless nickel plating is not from Kanizen, but if the customer does not specifically require Kanizen's solution, we can provide it without any quality issues.

Is it possible to achieve a glossy appearance with electroless nickel plating?

Is it possible to achieve a glossy appearance with electroless nickel plating at Silvec?

Q: Is it possible to achieve a glossy appearance with electroless nickel plating? A: We are unable to accommodate that. Electroless nickel plating does not have the capability to produce a glossy finish. While it is possible to create an appearance by using a mirror finish on the base material before applying electroless nickel plating, we cannot control the gloss. With electrolytic nickel, however, it is possible to control the finish from semi-gloss to glossy appearance.

Is it possible to layer nickel plating?

I heard that Silbeck offers three types of gloss: glossy, semi-gloss, and matte. Is it possible to layer these nickel finishes, for example?

Q: I heard that there are three types of gloss: glossy, semi-gloss, and matte. Is it possible to layer these nickel finishes, for example? A: Yes, it is possible to layer them. For instance, by layering a glossy nickel plating over a semi-gloss nickel plating, you can create a double nickel plating that utilizes the potential difference for improved corrosion resistance.

What is the difference between hard chrome plating and decorative chrome plating? 【With video】

What is the difference between hard chrome plating and decorative chrome plating?

Q: What is the difference between hard chrome plating and decorative chrome plating? A: Decorative chrome plating generally uses nickel plating as a base and is aimed at improving appearance and corrosion resistance (e.g., car emblems). On the other hand, hard chrome plating, officially referred to as industrial chrome plating, involves applying a thick layer of chrome plating (over 1μm) to achieve hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance, and release properties (e.g., hydraulic equipment cylinders).
