The applicability of quinone compound for both cathode and anode has been considered, aiming for low cost and safe energy storage material that does not contain rare or toxic element. However, even if quinone compound is supported on a porous material such as activated carbon, the quinone compound leaches out from the porous material, resulting in a short life span (that is to say poor cycle life) as an energy storage material.   This invention solves the issue of cycle life. Consequently, we have demonstrated that the energy density of the new power storage device reaches the same level as a lead battery even though it is composed only of organic material.

Rectenna composed of an antenna and a diode is known as a device for converting electromagnetic waves into electric power. The rectenna absorbs electromagnetic waves with an antenna and performs photoelectric conversion. In recent years, research on optical rectennas, in which rectenna technology is applied to the optical frequency domain, has been advanced, and results of photovoltaic power generation have been reported. However, the optical rectennas reported at present are difficult to manufacture or have low efficiency.   The present invention has succeeded in significantly increasing the photoelectric conversion efficiency by introducing a special structure and material into the metal-dielectric-metal (MIM) tunnel diode and established an device based on hollow resonators.

Realization of massive information processing by miniaturizing photoelectric conversion device and reducing electric power consumption

Optical fiber has been put into practical use by using the parallelism and multiplexing characteristics of the light as a wave. However, the corresponding photoelectric conversion equipment is required with the increase of the information to be transmitted, resulting in larger device and higher electric power consumption. On the other hand, unlike light, electron cannot incorporate parallelism and multiplexing characteristics, so in principle, electronic device such as semiconductor integrated circuit can not transmit multiple pieces of information simultaneously.   This invention can perform multiplex transmission of information with solid-state electronic device, which has been performed with optical fiber so far, by focusing on "electron spin wave" having wave characteristic, that is to say using its wavelength as information and superimposing electron spin wave on each other. This eliminates the need for sequential calculation when processing multiplex information, and it is expected to replace existing photoelectric conversion device by its miniaturization and electric power consumption reduction, potentially contributing to the vast increase in information processing in the future. Also, the device that collectively transmits, processes and records multi-state information using multiplex electron spin wave could be realized.

Precise Evaluation of Drug Efficacy and Toxicity Under In Vivo-Mimetic Control of Oxygen Concentration and pH

In recent years, concerns about animal welfare have accelerated efforts to reduce animal testing in pharmaceutical and cosmetic development, driving a global shift toward in vitro evaluation methods that better replicate the human body. Microphysiological systems (MPS), which combine microfluidic technology with human cells, are attracting significant attention as next‑generation in vitro evaluation methods capable of reproducing organ‑level physiological functions.​  The inventors have developed a device capable of independently controlling the two‑dimensional spatial distributions of both oxygen concentration and pH. This invention is expected to facilitate understanding of cellular dynamics in microenvironments with oxygen and pH gradients. For example, by reproducing the hypoxic and low‑pH environment of cancerous tissues, the device enables the evaluation of anticancer drug efficacy and toxicity under conditions that closely mimic the in vivo environment of cancer patients. Beyond these applications, the device is expected to support a broad range of uses as an organ‑on‑a‑chip platform. Since this patent has not yet been published, the specification can be disclosed after the intellectual property agreement is concluded.
