At a major food manufacturer, barcode labels are affixed to the pallet packaging, and barcode labels indicating shelf numbers are attached to the mobile racks, managing inventory including locations. This process has required significant time for barcode scanning during inventory counts and shipping/receiving. Additionally, in the flat storage area, management has relied on experience and intuition due to free location, leading to time-consuming searches for items. As a solution, since it is difficult to attach RFID tags to individual items, RFID tags will either be affixed to the pallet packaging or utilize RFID tags mounted on the pallets. Inventory management in mobile racks and flat storage areas is being streamlined with Locus Fork.
