Now we are entering the Showa period, but two new hardness testing machines were invented in the late Taisho period, which I previously omitted, so I will explain them here. I mentioned earlier that the Brinell hardness tester was invented in 1900, followed by the Shore hardness tester six years later. A little later, in 1919 (the 8th year of Taisho), the Rockwell hardness tester was developed, and six years after that, in 1925 (the 14th year of Taisho), the Vickers hardness tester was invented. In printed circuit board assembly, there are two methods: "Surface Mount Technology (SMT)," which involves soldering components on the surface of the printed circuit board, and "Insertion Mount Technology (IMT)," which involves inserting electrode lead terminals into the holes (through-holes) of the printed circuit board and soldering them. Takaya's flying probe tester is also skilled at inspecting insertion-mounted boards. For larger discrete components, manual assembly followed by visual inspection can lead to variability and the possibility of inspection errors. However, by using the flying probe tester, inspections can be conducted without mistakes, ensuring reliable traceability. For large hand-inserted components related to power lines, issues such as misplacement, bridging, shorts, and polarity, which are difficult to detect with AOI (automated optical inspection), can be electrically tested to prevent component and board damage during power-on, thereby reducing the occurrence of discarded boards. In recent years, as miniaturization and high-density integration of boards have progressed, surface mount technology has become mainstream, but there are still many boards manufactured using insertion mount technology. The APT-2600FD-SL is a large model that maintains the basic performance of the APT-2600FD while expanding the compatible board size to W635×D610mm. Furthermore, by adding an optional split inspection function, it can inspect long boards up to W985×D610mm. It can accommodate components with a height of 60mm and board weights of up to 15kg, making it suitable for inspecting large and heavy boards such as those used in automotive, aerospace, medical devices, power supply boards, and probe cards. Etching is a surface processing technique that utilizes the corrosive action of chemical reactions, such as those involving chemicals. The observation pre-treatment that employs this principle is the etching of metal structures. By etching the metal surface, differences in crystal orientation and composition create unevenness, allowing for the observation of the metal structure. The size of samples that can be etched is approximately 50mm square. For observation with a metal microscope, samples can be about 50mm square in size and can be observed at magnifications of up to 1,000 times. For observation with a scanning electron microscope (SEM), samples can be up to φ180mm × t70mm in size and can be observed at magnifications of about 20,000 times.

We will conduct elemental analysis of small areas using a field emission electron probe microanalyzer (FE-EPMA) with high sensitivity on the submicron order.

Using FE-EPMA (Field Emission Scanning Electron Probe Microanalyzer), we conduct SEM imaging and elemental analysis using WDX (Wavelength Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy). It features better quantitative accuracy than EDX elemental analysis (± a few hundred ppm to a few thousand ppm) and superior spatial resolution compared to general-purpose EPMA (sub-micron order). It can be used for cross-sectional analysis of thin films with thicknesses of a few hundred nm and for analyzing the diffusion state of trace elements at joint interfaces.

An ion milling device is a cross-section polishing apparatus that performs polishing and etching for observation and analysis by irradiating the surface of a sample with a very weak argon ion beam. We can conduct stress reproduction tests in natural environments such as temperature and humidity, light, and salt damage using various environmental testing machines.

This equipment conducts accelerated weather resistance tests using a xenon type. By artificially creating an environment that exposes materials to sunlight, it is possible to perform weather resistance tests that promote degradation even more than in natural environments. Weather resistance refers to the resistance to degradation primarily caused by sunlight, rain, snow, temperature, humidity, and ozone in the natural environment. To evaluate this, it is necessary to conduct outdoor exposure tests or accelerated weather resistance tests using artificial light sources. The xenon weather meter used at JTL is a type of accelerated weather resistance testing machine, utilizing a light source (xenon lamp) that closely approximates the spectral irradiance distribution of ultraviolet and visible light from sunlight. It is capable of conducting weather resistance tests on paints (JIS K 5600-7-7), building materials (JIS A 1415), plastics (JIS K 7350-2), coatings, printed materials, textiles, and more, complying with various standards such as JIS, ISO, and JASO.

Non-contact two-dimensional measurement and contour shape measurement using image capture can evaluate various sizes, from small parts to large products.

Image measurement machines can perform two-dimensional measurements of small products and intricate shapes that cannot be measured by three-dimensional measuring machines. Through scanning shape measurement, two-dimensional CAD comparison, and shape evaluation (best fit), it is possible to measure and evaluate two-dimensional contour shapes that cannot be assessed by standard geometric dimension measurements. Additionally, by attaching a special image measurement probe (Quick Vision Probe) to a three-dimensional measuring machine, non-contact two-dimensional image measurement of large-sized items that cannot be handled by general image measurement machines has become possible. When used alongside three-dimensional measuring machines, two-dimensional measuring machines, and measuring tools (small tools), it is possible to accommodate measurements of various sizes, materials, and shapes.

This service conducts a composite cycle corrosion test (CCT test) to evaluate the corrosion resistance of metal products and surface-treated items. By freely combining corrosion cycles such as salt spray, high humidity, low humidity, and drying, we can accommodate various testing conditions tailored to the evaluation criteria.
