Isostatic molding is a molding method that utilizes hydraulic pressure, named for its ability to apply hydrostatic (static) pressure uniformly (iso). The mold for shaping PTFE consists of one side made of a flexible membrane (such as a rubber membrane). The molding die filled with powdered raw material is submerged in water within a pressurized tank, where hydrostatic pressure is applied as the molding pressure. This is a preliminary molding method that allows the internal PTFE powder to be pressed into a non-standard shape with uniform pressure through the flexible membrane. It results in minimal distortion during molding, enabling the creation of voidless materials, and can be used for thin-walled molding and container shapes.
